Cancer Care Support

Acupuncture for patients in and after cancer treatment

Your oncologist treats the cancer. I treat what treatment takes out of you. I work alongside your oncology team, and after your first visit I send your oncologist a written summary of what I found and what I’m treating.

What I treat

  • Joint pain and stiffness from aromatase inhibitors (anastrozole, letrozole, exemestane)
  • Chemotherapy-induced neuropathy in the hands and feet
  • Fatigue, nausea, and loss of appetite
  • Poor sleep, hot flashes, and stress during treatment

Why acupuncture

The 2022 joint guideline from the Society for Integrative Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology recommends acupuncture for joint pain from aromatase inhibitors. That pain is one of the most common reasons women stop taking their medication early.

How care stays safe

  • I review your most recent bloodwork before every treatment during active chemotherapy.
  • I don’t needle an arm at risk for lymphedema, or over tumor sites, ports, or irradiated skin.
  • I don’t add herbs or supplements without your oncology team’s agreement.
  • Sterile, single-use needles, every time.

How to start

  1. Book a Cancer Care New Patient Visit (90 minutes).
  2. Upload your most recent CBC before your appointment if you’re in active treatment.
  3. After your visit, your oncologist receives a written summary.
